Concacaf confirms 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup participating clubs and draw pots

  • Eight Caribbean clubs have secured a berth for this year’s competition.

  • Group Stage draw will take place on Thursday, June 6, at 5:00 pm ET.

  • Pots determined based on Concacaf Club Rankings.

Miami, FL (Monday, June 3, 2024)—Concacaf has confirmed the list of clubs that will participate in the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup. The second edition of the regional cup will be played between August and December 2024, crown the Caribbean’s club champion, and serve as a qualifier for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.

Additionally, the Confederation has confirmed key details about the competition’s Group Stage draw, which will be conducted on Thursday, June 6, in Miami, FL, and will determine each club’s path to the Final. Fans can follow the made-for-TV live draw through Concacaf’s partner networks and the Concacaf YouTube Channel starting at 5:00 p.m. ET.

PARTICIPATING CLUBS

Thus far, eight clubs from four Concacaf Caribbean Member Associations have secured a berth in the Group Stage of the 2024 Caribbean Cup based on their performance in their domestic leagues. These clubs are, in alphabetical order per country:

Dominican Republic (2): Cibao FC and Moca FC
Haiti (2): Ouanaminthe FC and Real Hope FA
Jamaica (2): Cavalier FC and Mount Pleasant FA
Trinidad and Tobago (2): AC Port of Spain and Miscellaneous Police FC

The remaining two participants, for a total of 10 clubs, will be the champion and runner-up of the 2024 CFU Club Shield.

DRAW PROCEDURES

On June 6, Concacaf will conduct the draw for the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup Group Stage. The draw will be executed using a single-blind system involving five pots.

The 10 participating clubs will be distributed into five pots according to their Concacaf Club Ranking as of June 3, 2024. The five pots will be as follows:

Pot 1 (two highest-ranked clubs): Cibao FC and Mount Pleasant FA
Pot 2 (two next highest-ranked clubs):  Cavalier FC and Moca FC
Pot 3 (two next highest-ranked clubs): Real Hope FA and Ouanaminthe FC
Pot 4 (two next highest-ranked clubs):  Miscellaneous Police FC and AC Port of Spain
Pot 5: Champion and Runner-up of the 2024 CFU Club Shield

The draw will begin by randomly selecting a sphere from Pot 1 and placing that club in Group A, position A1. The second sphere will be then drawn, and the club will be placed in Group B, position B1. This process will be replicated for Pots 2-5, placing clubs in sequential order in Groups A and B.

At the end of the draw, each group will contain one club from each pot.

COMPETITION FORMAT

The 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup will kick off with a Group Stage comprised of two groups of five clubs each. In this first round, clubs will play every club in their group once, for a total of four matches per club (two at home and two away) in the five scheduled weeks.

After the Group Stage, the first and second-place finishers in each group will advance to the Knockout Stage. The Knockout Stage will include home-and-away play, starting with the Semifinals, followed by the Third Place Match and Final, where the Caribbean’s new champion will be crowned.

Furthermore, the finalists and the third-place winner (three clubs in total) will qualify for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. The champion will also receive a bye to the Round of 16 of the Confederation’s premier 27-club competition.
